Die kasteel is seker Heidenreichstein se bekendste kenmerk en is tans in die besit van die Kinsky-familie. Die Duitse “Wasserburg” dui daarop dat dit ‘n kasteel (burg) is wat deur ‘n grag (water) omring was. Aangesien die kasteel nooit aangeval of deur brand verwoes is nie, het dit goed behoue gebly. Die laaste groep foto’s (“Besigtiging”) is geneem toe die Heidenreichs op ‘n begeleide toer deur die kasteel geneem is as deel van die saamkoms op 29 Mei. Met enkele uitsonderings, is geen foto’s binne die kasteel toegelaat nie. Besoek gerus ook die kasteel se webwerf.

The castle is probably Heidenreichstein’s main landmark and is currently part of the Kinsky family estate. The German “Wasserburg” points to the fact that the castle (burg) was surrounded by a moat (water = wasser). Since the castle never had to endure an attack, nor was it gutted by fire like many old buildings have been, it has survived the centuries quite well. The photographs in the last group (“Tour”) were taken when the Heidenreichs were taken on a guided tour as part of the gathering on May 29th. With a few exceptions, we were not allowed to take photographs of the inside of the castle. You may also like to visit the web site of the castle.
